Principal's Message

Dear Lakeland Families and Friends, 

Welcome to our school community! Thank you for visiting the Lakeland Elementary School website.  Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are so glad to have you as part of our school community. Here at Lakeland we believe deeply in the importance of connections and relationships as the foundation for learning. Our Mission Statement, “We are lifelong learners working to build a more peaceful world!” is embodied by both staff and students. 

While serving as the interim principal at Lakeland I am grateful to be surrounded by professionals, parents and community members who put students first. At our school, we believe that elementary years are a time of curiosity, growth, and discovery.  Our dedicated teachers and staff work hard each day to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to do their best.  We are committed to helping students grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally.

Lakeland staff work to utilize Collaborative Problem Solving, Restorative Practices and Applied Education Neuroscience to create a rich environment for learning. We use CKLA as a foundation and building block for language arts and Math Expressions to develop foundational math skills. Social and Emotional learning happens throughout the day with our PBIS expectations and weekly with our Second Step curriculum. Our teachers strive to grow their skills with regular professional development and reflection on their practices. I am proud to serve them as they serve students.
