Good Afternoon Elks and Families!

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week! It has been a fun week to see students collaborating and exploring science labs, learning about their classmates, exploring growth mindsets, and playing instruments just to name a few of the activities. Please check out the information below and let us know if you have any questions.

Enjoy the weekend!

MYIG Application Update:

The Michigan Youth in Government application is now OPEN for former MYIG students. Please check your email and apply!  Applications are due September 19. Applications for new members will open on September 20! If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Macaluso. [email protected]

Positivity Project Update:

This week during P2 our students and teachers spent time exploring the five components of the Other People Matter Mindset. Students and staff also took the character strength survey to determine their top five character strengths and students created some awesome locker signs to show them their strengths.

Next week students will be learning about the character strength of “curiosity”. Please check out the PDF of the character card for curiosity and if you have time take the Via Character Strength Survey.

NWEA Testing:

Due to technical difficulties we were not able to begin testing this week. Each test has moved one week back. The NWEA fall reading test window will now begin in reading classes next week on Monday, September 19th, NWEA math will take place the following week during math classes. It is a good time to remind students to get good rest, charge their Chromebooks overnight, and eat a healthy breakfast.

There are no new updates on construction. All times and plans shared last week remain the same.

(Update 9/9/2022)

We are continuing to persevere through the challenges of construction. Despite losing classroom space, our playground, and parking we are finding ways to adapt and ensure students and safe, learning, and enjoying their days here at CMS!

As you have probably already learned from Mrs. Brown’s email update following the ER School Board meeting on September 1st there was a presentation to explain the legal requirements and steps the contractors would take to protect everyone during the asbestos abatement.
