-High School Art Competition at Northwestern Michigan College- Sarah Bassett 3rd place finish in the Drawing-Illustration-Printmaking Category.
-Annual Region 15 Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society Fair - 22 entries with 21 moving on to state competition.
-77th State of Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society Competition - 4000 entries with six ER students placing in the Top 10 for their category.
Career Technology:
-Skills USA State Conference in Lansing- Career Tech students from Elk Rapids, Brittany White and Brandon Hubbell, both receive gold medals.

-Three Lakes Association awards scholarships to seniors Keenan Bailey and Anna Ash for their work during a summer internship project.
-Regional Math Competition at NMC for 8th Grade Students from Cherryland Middle School:
90 contestants compete from 11 schools. Seven Elk Rapids students place in top 25.
Elk Rapids earns a 2nd place in Team Competition.
-Three 8th grade band members earn selection into the Middle School Honors Band for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District Two which is comprised of 30 schools.
-Cherryland Middle School student, Haley Kossek, wins Antrim County Spelling Bee.
-Elk Rapids High School Choral Ensemble qualifies for state competition at the District Choir Festival.
-Elk Rapids High School Band members earn eight 1st Division ratings and three 2nd Division ratings at this year’s Solo and Ensemble Festival.
-Elk Rapids Middle School Band members earn two 1st Division ratings and two 2nd Division ratings at this year’s Solo and Ensemble Festival.
-Odyssey of the Mind
Five teams place at Regional Competition and advance to State. A team of Cherryland Middle School students earns a 1st place finish as well as the OMER Award for outstanding teamwork and spirit.
One team comprised of 4th grade students from Mill Creek earns a 2nd place finish at the State level and advances to the World Competition on Colorado where they place 18th.
-An essay by 7th grade student, Ariel Schman-Sivik, is chosen as Regional Best in a writing contest sponsored by local AMVETS. An essay by 8th grade student, Haley Kossek, moves to the state level after winning a local writing contest sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance.
-Cherryland Middle School Students work in conjunction with NASA in a pilot program called Orion’s Quest. They are one of 20 schools in the nation to participate. Students collect data for NASA as a part of their 8th grade science program.
-Over 19% of students enrolled at Mill Creek Elementary are School of Choice students from other districts.
-The National Honor Society recognized by the Red Cross for efforts with community blood drives.
-The Class of 2004 earned over $300,000 in scholarships.
-70 members of the Class of 2004 earned the Michigan Merit Scholarship. (2005 information pertaining to scholarships has not been collected as of yet)
-70% of student body at Cherryland Middle School enrolled in band or vocal music.
-8th grade students make yearly trip to Washington D.C.
-Cherryland Middle School receives grant that will provide each incoming 6th grade student with a laptop computer to use during the course of the school year.
-Lakeland and Mill Creek Elementary provide quality extended day programs for students and introduce the “Wee” Are E.R. Preschool program beginning Fall, 2005.
-Award winning enrichment programs for students at the elementary level such as Lunch Box Buddies and Junior Great Books.
-Mill Creek Elementary Pond Environmental Center gives children hands-on science learning.
-Elk Rapids offers Alternative High School- Sunrise Academy.
John Edwards, elementary school social worker, earns OPIE Award (Outstanding Person in Education)

Lake Michigan Conference Champions- Bethany Hammer 2 nd overall finish and Natalie Hickman 3 rd overall finish. Both receive All-Conference Honors.
Regional Champions, Regional Champions, 5 th in State. Bethany Hammer and Natalie Hickman named All-State Runners.
Don Baese Invitational in Carson City- 1 st Place Overall
Petoskey Invitational- 1 st place finish
