HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF NORTHWEST MICHIGAN
PROJECT CATCH ‘EM UP
School shot requirements have changed!
Certain shots are now required for students entering 6th grade--and they are recommended for all youth age 11 through 18 years. In order to help kids get "caught up", the Health Department is offering immunization visits at $15* for a limited time, no matter how many of the required/recommended shots children need. There is no out-of-pocket charge for children enrolled in a Medicaid Program. And no one is turned away for inability to pay.
Call the Health Department to schedule an appointment at 800-432-4121 if your child has not had the following required vaccines from age 11 through 18 years old: one dose of Meningococcal “Meningitis” Vaccine, one dose Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis Vaccine (Tdap) and two doses Varicella (Var) Chickenpox Vaccine or history of chickenpox disease. In addition, three doses of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Cervical Cancer Vaccine are recommended (not required) for all females age 11 through 26 to reduce the risk of cervical cancer in women.
Your child’s physician’s office or the Health Department can tell you what “shots” your child needs to meet new school requirements.
*Families are eligible for $15 immunization visits at the Health Department if their children are uninsured, their insurance policy does not cover immunization, they've exceeded your health insurance “prevention” allowance, or they have co-pays or deductibles for immunizations. Medicaid covers immunizations; there is no charge for children enrolled in a Medicaid program.
