Encore Winds Chosen for Outdoor Concert

August 10 Event is Gift to Community from

Art Rapids! and Elk Rapids Rotary

The 7:30 p.m. concert will feature the Encore Winds, a 50-piece wind symphony now celebrating its 20^th season. Their music explores the emotion and wonder of music's most celebrated compositions!

Encouraging the arts has always been the primary goal of Art Rapids! The five-year-old organization, which produces the annual Art Rapids! juried art show each June,  thanked the community for its support last summer by presenting a free, outdoor jazz concert.

This season, Elk Rapids Rotary is partnering with Art Rapids! by underwriting the music. The August 10 classical concert is again a gift to the entire community, as a thank-you for the community’s support of Art Rapids!, of the arts, and of all local artists. Music selections for the concert will include The Star-Spangled Banner, Where Never Lark or Eagle Flew, Centennial Fanfare - March, A Tribute to Rogers & Hammerstein, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Bullets and Bayonets,  American Overture for Band, But Not For Me, America The Beautiful, and The Stars and Stripes Forever.

Concertgoers for the August 10 event are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Seating will be on the park lawn. Picnics are encouraged. In the event of rain, the concert will be in the gymnasium at Elk Rapids High School.
