Elk Rapids Lions taking Grant requests from organizations and individuals now through February 28, 2010.

The Elk Rapids Lions Club is again now accepting requests for grants to provide support for community projects that support their mission. Now through February 28th, and again in September through October 21st, the Elk Rapids Lions Club will accept applications from the community requesting the Lions’ support. Contact the Elk Rapids Lions Finance Committee for an application by email to tknecht@elkrapidsnet.com  or by telephone 231-264-8729 or by mail at PO Box 583, Elk Rapids, MI 49629.

Every application for funds will be considered by the Finance Committee, and every applicant will be notified of the final decision to grant or deny the request. The committee may request more information as necessary during the review process.

Elk Rapids Lions President Dan LeBlond said: “We believe this semi-annual approach will allow us to allocate our funds more equitably.  We hope this may also make us aware of some special community needs that will give us the ability to proactively fundraise over and above our annual events.”

It is our intent that all Elk Rapids Area media, organizations, churches, schools, and individuals become aware of the semi-annual dates when applications are accepted. The Elk Rapids Lions will continue to accept requests for assistance for eyeglasses, hearing aids and other emergencies as the need arises throughout the year.  The same review process is followed for all requests.  Names of Individuals applying for assistance always remain anonymous, but projects supported by the Lions are publicly announced when they are provided.
